Prescott High sends 90 graduates out into world Sunday afternoon
Prescott High is seeing a marked upward trend in the numbers attending its graduations. When the Curly Wolves band struck up “Pomp and Circumstances,” Sunday at 3:00 p.m, parents, family, friends and other well-wishers for the Class of 2025 were still filing into the school gymnasium and, with seats in the bleachers all taken up, began lining up along the railing that looked out over the court.

They watched from above with everyone else as the 90 seniors walked the perimeter and took seats just under the western basketball hoop.

First to take the podium was Senior Highest Honors Graduate-to-be Lakyn Crayne who gave the Invocation.  “Our hearts are filled with all the memories we have made along the way, the wonderful moments we have shared with our friends, all of our hard work, and the moments that seemed too hard. Thank you, Lord for the lasting relationships made these last four years. Thank you for the lessons taught to us by our parents, our teachers and by life," she said.

National Honor Society Graduate-to-be Richard Benton, Jr then provided a welcome and an introduction.  “Thank you for taking the time from your busy lives to be a part of our graduation and help in our steps to the future," he said. "We hope that you remember us as we move forward with our lives. I would like to now introduce to you the Interim Superintendent of Christian schools. Miss Angie Bryant”

Bryant, who will take the reins as permanent superintendent of the Prescott School District in July, introduced the members of the Prescott Schools’ Board of Education as well as faculty members seated to the south of the seniors.  She then introduced Prescott High Principal Tommy Poole who proceeded to name the Senior Highest Honors Graduates, Lakyn Crayne and Caytlee Poole, and the Senior Honors Graduates, of which there were 14 this year. His brother, current Superintendent Robert Poole conferred medals on these seniors.

The Presentation of Diplomas occurred next, with Principal Poole announcing each name as Superintendent Poole and School Board President Michael Williams gave the diplomas. As this went on, the seniors posed for pictures with Williams and Superintendent Poole.

When all the seniors had collected their diplomas and returned to their seats, Caytlee Poole spoke the second prayer of the ceremony.  “Guide our way when we feel lost, hold us steady in fear to extend remind us that we are created on purpose, with purpose, that our trials may turn into treasure and our pain into pearls,” she said.

Next, with index fingers raised, the seniors led the singing of the Prescott Alma Mater.  Then Principal Tommy Poole approached the microphone and said, “It is with great honor and privilege, along with administration, faculty and the student body of Prescott schools that I confirm that the senior class of 2025 are graduates of Prescott High School.  At this time, you may move your tassels.”

The tassels were turned, but they were almost immediately hurled aloft along with the mortarboards they were attached to.  Ninety new graduates of Prescott High then left the Curly Wolves basketball court to join their families and friends.
