Prescott Hoops Tops GMCS on Tuesday Night
Prescott- It was the season opener for the Lady Wolves (1-0) on Tuesday, as they welcomed the Lady Saints from Garrett Memorial for a non-conference matchup. In the opening quarter, the Lady Wolves were off and running as they turned a lot of defense into offense early on in the game. With a big lead at the break, Prescott cruised in the 2nd half to a 50-20 victory, as they Lady Saints could not make up enough ground in the middle quarters. 

Rylee Williams led the way for the Lady Wolves in scoring with 18 points. The freshman also added 5 boards and 2 steals. Shanya Smith scored 9 points and added 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Emari Britton played a great point guard for Prescott, as she scored 5 points and dished out 5 assists. Mimi Ellis scored 6 points, Mesha Burton 5 points, Makaylah McClinton 3 points, and R'moni Jamerson and Laila Smallwood each had 2 points. 

For the Lady Saints, Kat Morris had 7 points and 7 rebounds. Gracy Martin hit a pair of 3's for six points, Baylee Pogue had 3 points, and Silbi Jones and Abby Mendoza added 2 each. Heaven Garcia had another night of double-duty, as she played the entire jr. and sr. girls games and her defense and effort never wavered. 

Nice win for the Lady Wolves, as they begin their 2024-2025 campaign with a win, they will host Hope Thursday night. GMCS is back in action for homecoming on Friday night. 

In the Jr. Boys game, the Wolves came out of the gates running, as they knocked off the Saints 51-16. For Prescott, the scoring was led by Desmond Prater who poured in 11 points and played a great game on both sides of the floor. Both Julian Stafford and Tallyn Helmick each scored 8 points, and Tiden Mckillion added 6 points. The ball pressure was very good from the Wolves all game, as this should be an exciting group to watch this season. Hooks Brown led the Saints with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Kason Flowers added 4 points, Ben Martin added 2 points, and Matthew Garcia added 1. 

In the Jr. Girls game, Prescott won the game 38-10.
