The Prescott Curley Wolves for its Homecoming game host a Fouke team tonight that plays a lot of experienced juniors by virtue of playing so many sophomores last year. The Fouke Panthers (4-2) have an opponent in common with Prescott (5-0) in the Junction City Dragons, which Fouke beat by a single point September 23 and Prescott drubbed 55-20 last Friday.
Prescott Coach Brian Glass assessed that game this way: “We played well against Junction City. Special teams are getting better, and we returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Our offense was sharp and explosive. Other than two plays, our starting defense would have had a shutout. In the second half our JV kids played well against their starters.”
As for Fouke, Glass said, “Fouke has some big offensive and defensive linemen and we will have to use our quickness up front to neutralize their size.”
Where Fouke has scored 209 points and allowed 157 this season, Prescott has scored 249 and allowed a paltry 89.
This season’s Prescott standouts have included their quarterback Carston Poole whose completion percentage has been a stratospheric 67 percent with 10 touchdowns from passes and five from running with a QB rating of 129 that exceeds that of Aaron Rodgers in his best year, their running back Travion Dickens who is averaging 104 yards per game and receiver Eric Grigsby, a big-play machine at 70 yards per game.
The defensive stoppers have been Tidorian Thompson and Pierce Yates with 10 tackles a game. Talen Smith is sacking quarterbacks three times a game.
After Homecoming ceremonies, which start at 6:00 p.m., the contest will kick off at 7:00 p.m. at Prescott’s Cummins Stadium and be broadcast live on SWARK.Today.
