Prescott Kiwanis holds Chili Luncheon Fundraiser today

About a dozen pots of chili made by Prescott Kiwanis Club members were prominent in the First United Methodist Church Dining Hall at lunchtime today.

If you had walked into the First United Methodist Church Dining Hall at 11:00 a.m. today, you would be forgiven for thinking you had died and gone to chili heaven.

The Prescott Kiwanis Club’s Chili Luncheon Fundraiser there, lovingly cooked and served by several of the club’s members was not a small affair. About a dozen crock pots and insta-pots were ranged along a series of tables on the north side of the room. For the purchase of an $8 ticket, patrons were entitled to a bowl of their choice from the several kinds of chili offered: beef (with and without beans), deer and white chili with chicken.

Bonnie Pruitt, the Prescott Kiwanis Club President who was sworn into the position in October, said the proceeds raised from today’s lunch will help with Kiwanis’ mission of helping local children. It will help fund the Prescott High School’s Senior Honors Banquet and a scholarship by the club to be awarded at that event.

Bowls of chili were served with your choice of a heaping slice of cornbread or crackers and your choice of cookies. Soft drinks and water were also provided. “All of the Kiwanis members were really able to show their talents on their recipe of chili,” Pruitt said.
