Prescott Lions Club treats first responders, their families to a good Thursday meal

First responders and other members of the community sat down to a fish fry dinner in the Potlatch Building on the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Prescott Thursday evening provided by the Prescott Lions Club.

At 6:00 p.m. Nevada County Sheriff's deputies, Pafford EMS responders, fire department personnel from Prescott and surrounding towns and many more of those who risk their lives to make ours safer came out to the Potlatch Building to be served delicious fried catfish by the Lions Club of Prescott.

Three rows of tables were set and several dozen emergency workers and their families had their meals there after gathering their preference among catfish, french fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and potato salad arranged in a line along a fourth row of tables on the east side of the room.

Credit the fish frying to Lions David Lynch and Robert Bonnette. They, along with at least a half dozen other Lions members, put the meal together, resolving to keep serving the 55 pounds of catfish purchased from Seth Reeder's Outta the Water Fish Market, as long as people kept coming.

There was brief thunder and a short bout of wind and rain toward the end of the evening. But before sunset, if you were looking toward the south, a rainbow could be seen in the receding grey.
