Prescott- The #1 ranked Curley Wolves (7-1) (3-0) head to Smackover (4-3) (1-1) Friday night with a chance to clinch another conference championship with a win. Smackover has beaten Horatio and dropped a game to Junction City in conference play this season. Following a huge home win over a very good and physical team from Homer last week, Prescott will look to continue to play well and clinch another conference title Friday night. “They have good athletes all over the field as usual, Mitchell is probably their most dangerous player”, Coach Brian Glass said Tuesday as he spoke on the athleticism of Smackover. This “Tenacious D” of Prescott has proven to be very difficult to move the ball on all year, so look for Smackover to have their hands full trying to put points on the board. Smackover will use a handful of different packages to mix it up and try and find success against Prescott. Look for Jamarion Burton, Rasheed Muhammed, Rocco Patrick, and Marshawn Rafter and company upfront will have something to say about the rushing attack of Smackover, so expect another dominating performance from the best defense in 3A. Prescott is 3-0 in conference play, outscoring opponents 155 to 35 in those three games.Â

Offensively, Coach Glass spoke on the offensive side of the ball, “Offensive Line coach, Coach Thorton is very adamant and wants to run the ball this week.” So, look for the O-line to control the line of scrimmage and give RB Jah’Noah Harris some good running lanes, so look for Harris to have a huge week and also KJ Page could have an outburst this week as well. Pierce Yates has been playing extremely well this season and looks to continue leading this team to wins as they look to clinch a conference title this week. If Smackover plans to load the box to attempt to stop the run and leave zero coverage on the wideouts, that will definitely favor the Curley Wolves, as PJ Gulley, D’Wayne White, Jaylen Johnson, and Spencer Hubbard are all mismatches. Prescott has an embarrassment of riches at the skill positions and that is backed up by the numbers as they are averaging over 51 points a game during conference play. Look for the Curley Wolves to start the game fast, set the tone and force a running clock in the second half. Kickoff is set for 7pm Friday night. Go Wolves!!Â
