Since 7:30 this morning, in an event named Cakes with Cops, officers from the Prescott Police Department have been serving pancakes, eggs, grits, sausage, orange juice and coffee to members of the community for the mere price of dropping by PPD headquarters.

Sergeant Daniel Autry, who occupied the griddle, said the event was a way of developing a relationship with the public. "It's just a way to reach out to community and say 'Hey, we're here to help you all and be part of the community. So come have some breakfast with us."

After what was described as an early rush just before 8:00 a.m., the strollers-in were few at 9:00 a.m. but breakfast will be served until it runs out, and it did not appear to be running out too soon.

The Prescott PD last hosted Cakes with Cops this past Feb. 19.
