Prescott's Fall Festival brought the vendors, the music, the beauty and the Golden Pumpkin
Though the leaves are coming down, spirits were up Saturday at Prescott’s Fall Festival, which took place for the most part in the front yard of the Nevada County Courthouse starting at 9:00 a.m with some events, like the 5K Run/walk and the Basketball Shootout, occurring a short distance away.

Among the other events were performances by the Prescott High School Band, the Dancetastics, various Karaoke singers, entrants to the Husband Calling Contest (the winner was Cherie Wilson) and the White Dog Band. A rifle raffle and a find-the-Golden-Pumpkin contest, with periodic clues announced, were also held.

Among the numerous vendor tables and awnings, one could buy jams and jellies, decorative tumblers, local high school team t-shirts, scented candles, potted plants, kitchen accessories and whole hog sausage from OYEA (Organization for Youth Education in Agriculture) from Prescott Public Schools. Many local companies and churches were also present, including the Rotary Club, Pafford Services, Bank of Delight, Beasley Law Firm, First Assembly of God, Baptist Health.

The Fall Fest Children’s Pageant began at 3:00 p.m. The winners included Miss Fall Fest Kallie Lewis, Young Miss Aliza Thompson, Little Mister Jayton Box, Little Miss Mariah Washington,Tiny Mister Arielleus Beasley, Tiny Miss Elora Northrup and Infant Miss Elizabeth Rosenbaum. The audience often saluted the children who were dressed in cute fall-themed apparel.

The organizer of the event was the Prescott-Nevada Chamber of Commerce, but there were dozens of sponsors. Chamber Director Jamie Hillery said at mid-afternoon, “First and foremost, the weather's been perfect. All of our vendors showed up. I think everybody's done well. We have a great crowd. Everybody's waiting to find the Golden Pumpkin. All of our activities have had lots of participation. So I'm very excited.”

The finder of the Golden Pumpkin (on the funnel cake food truck) was Elijah Stout, who won $100 for his sharp eyes and great powers of deduction.
