Little Rock, AR – Senate candidate and conservative warrior Jake Bequette released the following statement after John Boozman announced his refusal to debate Bequette before the primary. 

“Every single day on the campaign trail, Arkansans ask me when they will be able to watch a debate between me and John Boozman. Today in Fort Smith, the people of Arkansas received their answer: never. I personally witnessed Senator Boozman tell a Republican voter that he flat-out will not debate me. When the concerned voter pressed him to explain, Senator Boozman replied that he is “too busy,” an answer that elicited groans from the audience — many of whom were military veterans — who told me afterward that they thought his statements were pathetic. There are many momentous issues facing our country right now, and the people of Arkansas deserve to hear from their leaders. A United States Senator from the great state of Arkansas should never be “too busy” or too afraid of competition and vigorous debate.”
