That’s why I cosponsored legislation alongside Speaker Kevin McCarthy and the Chairman of the House Administration Committee, Bryan Steil, to strengthen voter confidence and election integrity in our country. The American Confidence in Elections Act (ACE Act) is simple: It makes it easier for Americans to vote and harder for cheaters to cheat.
The ACE Act includes necessary reforms focused on bolstering voter confidence in our elections while respecting the Constitution, federalism, and conservative principles. First, it acts as a blueprint and gives states the tools they need to strengthen voter integrity and remove outdated federal policies currently standing in the way. This bill would provide states with the tools to use photo voter ID as proof of citizenship, grants states access to federal databases so they can have accurate voter lists, prohibits federal agencies from engaging in political activities, and prevents federal funds from going to any state that allows ballot harvesting and non-citizen voting.
This legislation would protect political speech and enhance donor privacy by protecting Americans’ First Amendment right to support any candidate, cause, or organization without fear of retribution. It would permanently prohibit federal agencies, like the IRS, from targeting conservative non-profits and close loopholes that foreign actors exploit to influence U.S. elections.
With over a hundred cosponsors, the historic, conservative ACE Act will restore voter confidence by advancing the best common-sense practices to ensure a safe, accessible, and secure election system for all Americans for years to come.
