This Wednesday’s Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Coffee was sponsored by Rainbow of Challenges, a nonprofit with headquarters on 500 South Main whose purpose is to offer help for people of all ages with developmental disabilities. The coffee took place in the Chamber offices on Main and Second Street.

Career Development Director Dorene Mosier explained that the several departments in ROC had been challenged to bring a dish to this morning’s coffee. Here were the delicious results:

  • Bacon-ranch poppers on bell peppers from Community Labor.

  • Cream cheese pinwheels from Transportation Support Services.

  • Fruit and caramel sauce from Children’s Services.

  • Homemade chocolate cake from the Administration/Finance Department.

  • Homemade sausage balls, fruit punch from Day Services Program.

  • Pigs in a blanket and breakfast burritos from Residential Labor Services.

  • Beer biscuits and sausage gravy from the Skyrocket Program.

“We're glad to be back at the coffee. It's been a couple of years since we've been here,” Mosier said. “We usually have our children's service program do the coffee in the summer. And our day service program usually does a coffee in the fall. We're just glad to be back and all of us represented here and get back to our regular schedule.”
