Rainbow of Challenges to Return With 'ROCtober Fest' - Requests Street Closures From Hope City Board for Event

Rainbow of Challenges (ROC) will return with their "ROCtober Fest" fundraiser for their second year on Oct. 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. after requesting the closure of a few streets to the Hope City Board Tuesday night.

The Board tabled their request for their next meeting, but, if approved, the festival will close South Elm Street from W. 2nd to W. Division Street, West Division Street from Elm to Main Street, and South Main Street from W 2nd Street to Division Street. ROC says that they are open to revising plans if the Board doesn't approve of their proposed location.

ROCtober Fest will include a children's carnival, vendor booths, a chili cook-of, a 5K race, a car show, a family movie, and concessions.

The City Board Tuesday night also approved of a draft to propose new speed bumps to be placed in some areas of the city. The Board is currently debating on if they want to have a public hearing with citizens that could be affected by the speed bumps to come in and voice their opinions.

The Board also approved Tuesday of Houston Poly's bid for city trash bags in the amount of $41,100, $2,000 more than last year.
