FAYETTEVILLE -- Another former Razorback athlete has passed away suddenly with the news that Reggie Chaney died on Monday.
Chaney, a 6-foot-8 forward, signed with Arkansas out of Findlay Prep in Nevada. He spent two seasons at Arkansas including his last one with Eric Musselman. He then transferred to Houston where he played three seasons. No cause for the death has been revealed.
Chaney was set to leave for Greece next week to play professional basketball. He averaged 4.0 points. 2.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists.
Chaney averaged 4.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 69 games, including 9 starts, at Arkansas. With the Cougars, Chaney averaged 3.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in 104 games, including 24 starts. He was named Sixth Man of the Year in the American Athletic Conference in 2022-23.
Musselman posted about Chaney's death on X, formerly called Twitter.
"The Razorback men’s basketball family is devastated to hear of the loss of Reggie Chaney. He was a relentless worker and loved by his teammates. His family is in our thoughts and prayers."
Mike Anderson and his staff won a recruiting battle for Chaney out of Findlay Prep where he averaged 13.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game as a senior.
