Ribbon cutting for Roll & Ride Auto Sales and Accessories for Less takes place this morning
A ribbon-cutting was held this morning at 600 East Third in Hope, as Roll & Ride Auto Sales and Accessories for Less & Custom Embroidery hosted many well-wishers, including recently crowned Hempstead County beauty queens, bank and insurance executives, the Hope Hempstead Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and other interested parties.

Hope Mayor Don Still spoke before the ceremony. “It’s nice to see a new business going up. This is all brand-new, and a I hope you all have a great run.” Then he asked that one of the business’ owners talk about the business, which started in the former EZ-Mart store last year.

Blanca Garcia said the building had not been for sale when she and Guillermo Rodriguez began looking for a location in Hope, where they both live. “We just contacted the owners. We made them an offer.”

After this was accepted, the real work began. “Little by little, we started fixing it,” Garcia said. This work included the parking lot for their auto inventory as well as the building’s interior, which she said still needs renovating in the back. Summing up the experience, Garcia said, “Every business … [takes] a sacrifice from everyone. Family, everyone, everyone. So we're glad that we're here. We're making progress.”

Inside the store, refreshments, including juice, cupcakes, water and cookies were available. Set up on the eastern end of the interior is a formidable-looking embroidery machine that allows for putting colorful designs on hats, purses and whatever else the customer may desire. Such accessories as necklaces, belts, sunglasses and so much else are available, too. Many of those attending the ribbon-cutting found themselves diverted by the variety of selections.
