Many who are regulars at the Rainbow of Challenges' Recycling Center downtown have recently had to navigate through mountains of stacked cardboard material. That clutter will be coming to an end very soon as ROC has acquired a "new-to-ROC'' model that will increase the productivity of the baling process.Â
The local Recycling Center is a hub of activity as they receive and pick-up cardboard from numerous businesses throughout Hope and the surrounding area, providing a much-needed service. The new machine will join the long-time compactor affectionately known to ROC clients and employees as "Big Bird", who has been under recent repair. The balers are able to compact and produce a "bale" of boxes that weigh 1,000 pounds or more.Â
ROC wishes to thank the local citizens for their patience in processing the extra materials and will reduce the load in a short time. However, the Recycling Center is still open for donations of materials from cardboard, to paper and other items. Household and clothing donations are also accepted for "ROC'N Re-Runs" resale center after it recently reopened. Â
