FAYETTEVILLE -- The first staff at Arkansas for Ryan Silverfield is nearing its completion with two more hires familiar with Ron Roberts, the new defensive coordinator, including one who spent two years on Sam Pittman's staff.
Silverfield has hired Deron Wilson to coach cornerbacks and CJ Wilford to work with the safeties. Wilford was hired from Georgia State after previously working at Florida, Louisiana and Southern Utah. Wilson coached at Arkansas in 2023 and 2024 and helped the secondary go from last in the SEC to fourth. He left the Hogs to take a defensive coordinator job at Georgia State only to be hired by Roberts at Florida before he actually coached as defensive coordinator.
Roberts is the new defensive coordinator and now has two players he's familiar with working with the secondary. Chad Lunsford will coach the special teams. Silverfield and Roberts still have to hire a defensive line coach.
Tim Cramsey will be the offensive coordinator. He has David Johnson with the running backs, Larry Smith the wide receivers and then Jeff Myers and Marcus Johnson on the offensive line.
CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz was the first to report the hire of Wilson.
