Sanders Releases $4 Million From the Disaster Response and Recovery Fund in Response to the March 31st Tornadoes
EXECUTIVE ORDER AMENDING EO 23-20 TO PROVIDE FUNDING, AS AUTHORIZED BY ARK. CODE ANN. §§ 12-75-114, FROM THE GOVERNOR’S DISASTER RESPONSE AND RECOVERY FUND WHEREAS:    On March 31, 2023, severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding began and continued with such severity that it warranted executive action to alleviate hardship and suffering;  WHEREAS:      In Executive Order 23-20, a state of emergency was declared in response to these storms; WHEREAS:    Adverse circumstances have been brought to bear upon citizens and public properties within the State of Arkansas; and WHEREAS:    The affected political subdivisions require supplemental assistance from the state to recover from these losses.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, and pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. §§ 12-75-101, et seq., do hereby amend EO 23-20 (dated March 31, 2023) to provide funding of $4,000,000.00 to be obligated from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund, to be used at the discretion of the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to defray both program and administrative costs. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and cause the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 28th day of September, in the year of our Lord 2023.
