The Scouts planted trees and installed new birdhouses in the park adjacent to the plant. Holcim sponsored the construction of the birdhouses, and the Scouts assembled them under the guidance of Assistant Scoutmaster Ed Flagg. The Scouts even painted each house with its unique design. Assistant Scoutmaster Donnie Golden oversaw the building and installation of the birdhouses at the Holcim site.
The group had the opportunity to explore a variety of trees, plants, and birds. A large group of Holcim families and friends also attended, making it a beautiful and enjoyable day for all. Holcim provided 30 large pizzas to feed the group and guests.
Troop 5 Scouts in attendance were: D'Aunna Golden, Senior Patrol Leader; Emma Wright, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster; Mary Martinez, Dakota Greer, Makenzi Golden, Penelope Tucker, Lucas Matchett, Harper McMahan, Riley Golden, Andrew Golden, Robert and Betty Wright, Amanda Greer, Brian Matchett, Amanda and Charlotte Tucker, Ed Flagg, Donnie Golden, Scoutmasters Karen Smith and Dr. Lester Sitzes.
On Monday morning, Troop 5 Scouts will be placing American flags on American Veteran's graves. They will meet at Rose Hill Cemetery at 7:45 AM and welcome anyone interested in participating to join them. After completing Rose Hill, the Scouts will move to Memory Gardens to honor the Veterans buried there.
