Scout Troop 5 of Hope went to Summer Camp at Kinsey Scout Reservation
located south of Shreveport, Louisiana. Camping there from June 13-19th,
the Scouts participated in classes of Archery, Rifle, Space Exploration,
Environmental Science, First Aid, Small Boat Sailing, Lifesaving, Indian
Lore, Leatherwork, Chess and Communications. Activities included hiking,
swimming, cooking, group campfires and performing a skit for the entire
camp.

Makenzi Golden was selected to the Order of the Arrow by the Troop 5 Scouts.
Hunter Mathis served as the Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and received honors
as the top archery shot in the camp. The Uncas Award for being helpful to
others was earned by Kody O'Brien.

Troop 5 is sponsored by the Century Bible Class of Hope's First United
Methodist Church. Camp was made affordable for all the youth by generous
donations from people at the two car washes at Hope Auto. Also a $ 1500
donation from Chuck Eldridge and Hope Auto and other donations from
individuals including John Henley, Steve Montgomery and Dr Donald Sitzes.

Visitors to camp were: Robert and Betty Wright, Laurie Mathis, Sue Gilbert,
Patricia Mathis, Sarah, Kevin and Kaden O'Brien; Jay Johnson and Tina
Kisselburg.
