In keeping with this year’s theme of Diners & Drive-ins of Hope, the evening also featured 60s and 70s tunes and an Elvis performer, a photo display of past Hope eateries, and a drive-in movie in the Pocket Park, 1964’s Mary Poppins, which was well-attended by many Hope children.
Attendees could also play Bingo, help paint a new mural on the east wall of the Pwa ocket Park, see the proposed maps for the Hope for the Future project and vote with donations on the next project the Hope Downtown Network (HDN) will undertake in the coming year. That winning project, which announced Sunday, will be the conversion of two downtown alleys to colorful artistic showplaces games can be played on.
According to the announcement on HDN's facebook site, "the walkways will be quite colorful with one displaying games for the young & young at heart. Faux windows will be painted and awnings will be placed. Colorful planters, like the ones in the pocket park, will be added. Rounding out the amazing additions will be bistro tables & chairs as well as artistic bike racks. The alleyways will now be repurposed from a mere walkway into gathering places filled with gorgeous colors."
The night was a fundraiser for HDN as well as a competition for the restaurants that set up tables in The Pavilion. The winners, announced on HDN's facebook site Sunday, were as follows:
