This morning Sew Fancy Quiltique celebrated the opening of their store front downtown with a ribbon cutting. Many citizens came out to be a part of the much anticipated occasion. A delicious cake, made by Little Teapot Bakery was served along with coffee and water. Locals visited as they roamed the space admiring all the exceptional products and quilting designs.

Mayor Don Still was present and said a few words to the crowd about the store and the owners, "We are always excited when a new business comes to town but we are especially excited when it is on Main Street. This is a beautiful shop and I hope you do well. I wish everyone would come to Hope and get involved like you did. You two are great citizens and we are glad to have you in town."

Owners, Rickson and Janna Fisher have been working hard on renovations within the shop and their work has definitely paid off. The entire place has been transformed into a quaint quilting paradise. Beautiful antique sewing machines, scissors and other fascinating vintage pieces that were used long ago in the process of sewing sit in glass cases and on shelves. All throughout the specialty shop, there is everything one would need to create any type of masterpiece from scratch. Rolls of batting, a multitude of patterned fabrics, quilting kits, threads, tape, literally everything and anything that has to do with sewing, quilting or creating, they've got it.

The Fishers moved to Hope from California and quickly realized there wasn't a place that had material or supplies for sewing for many miles so the idea of Sew Fancy was born and they are super excited after weeks of work to see their dream come to fruition. Rickson Fisher said, "This has been a dream of Janna's for a long time, it was a pipe dream that she thought would never happen and then this opportunity came along, we came to this town, changed our lives and here we are. Everyone has been so helpful and supportive here and we are thankful."

Beckie Moore, Director of the Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce said a few words about the Fishers, "If every couple or every individual when moving to Hope would jump in and get involved like this couple has, oh my goodness, what a difference it would make. They walked in from the get go and said, okay, how do we get involved, plug us in, let us do something to help." She thanked them for their continued support of the community and for always lending a helping hand.
