Some Hard-Hitting Facts On Concussions

Think fast: what do you know about concussions? With the school year — and sports seasons — ramping up, it’s a good idea to make sure you’re crystal clear on what causes them, how to spot them and what to do about them in case of an emergency.

Fiction: A concussion causes you to pass out.
Fact: Not always. Only about 10% of concussions knock you out.

Fiction: A concussion only happens if you hit your head.
Fact: There are other ways to get concussions like whiplash and sudden jolts.

Fiction: No immediate symptoms? No concussion.
Fact: Symptoms can show up hours, days or a week after a concussion.
