Downtown Live is a free monthly event that brings art and music to the historic downtown commercial and entertainment district. This month’s Downtown Live is this Friday, July 12, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Along with great shopping, food, art, and music, there will be two special events taking place. At 7:30 p.m., the Texarkana Winds will perform a patriotic-themed concert in front of the Gallery at 1894 on Olive Street. 

“We are so excited to be performing,” says conductor Dick Eckstein. “Texarkana Winds is a newly refashioned community band with a lot of talented musicians, eager to play for the community.”

On State Line Avenue, the Lofts at the Grim will conduct tours of the beautiful 100-year-old building. The Hotel Grim was built to be a modern, luxury hotel offering all the amenities technology could offer at the time. The Lofts at the Grim will soon be complete, so this tour will be the last time the Grim Hotel is accessible to the public prior to the formal grand opening. Tours will be conducted 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Another highlight at this month’s Downtown Live is the announcement of the theme for the 2024 Main Street Texarkana Christmas Parade, scheduled for December 2. This year, Main Street Texarkana has collected selections from the public. The chosen theme will be announced during the Texarkana Winds concert. 

Downtown Live will feature artists and musicians all along Broad, Front, and surrounding streets sharing their talent with the public. Due to the heat, many will be performing inside downtown businesses.
