Spring Hill Boys Golf Team Lands in Fourth at State, Purifoy Qualifies for Overall

(L to R) Ryan Whatley, Reed Rothwell, Chris Hernandez, and Colin Purifoy compete in the State Golf Tournament at Cooper's Hawk in Melbourne

The Spring Hill Boys Golf Team (Ryan Whatley, Reed Rothwell, Chris Hernandez, and Colin Purifoy) traveled to Melbourne yesterday to participate in the State Golf Tournament and left with some hefty accomplishments. The team placed fourth, two places up from last year, and Purifoy qualified individually to proceed to Overall State by shooting a 75, just three over. Coach Roy Whatley said he was pleased with the team's performance, in addition to how well they represented Spring Hill. "The etiquette and manners of our players was very commendable," Whatley said. "People bragged about how well our kids represented our community and the name of golf. Making it to this level, and playing as well they did, is an amazing feat. I am so proud of these kids."

Colin Purifoy travels to Pleasant Valley October 14 to compete in the Overall State Golf Tournament.
