Spring Hill- On May 9th Spring Hill hosted their Annual Sports Banquet to honor and celebrate all the athletes who competed throughout the 2022-2023 school year.  The teams celebrated were as followed: Trap Team, Fishing Team, Cheer Squad, Golf team, Football, Girls and Boys Basketball, Softball, Baseball, and Boys & Girls Track Teams. The Monty Sullivan Volunteer of the Year Award was presented by Christi Sullivan. The two recipients were Jennifer Runion and Reyn Brown. Jerry McMaster was also celebrated for his service and dedication to the school and the community as he is set to retire at the end of the year. Athletic Director Greg Smith spoke on multiple occasions last Tuesday, very proud of the athletes and the success all the teams had this past year, and the future looks very bright for all Spring Hill Athletic teams this upcoming season.
A very successful year for the Lady Bears and Bears programs as the Football team finished with a 7-4 record and made it to the playoffs. The Cheer squad was very successful in everything they competed in this past year, Trap and Fishing teams had very good success. The Boys Golf Team qualified for State, the Girls Golf team had 2 All-Conference members in Baili Butler and Jenna McCain. Both the Girls and Boys Basketball Teams advanced to the Regional Tournament, great coaching by Austin Kidd and Drew Hamilton, as the Boys team advanced to Regionals for the first time in years. Andrew Wylie was awarded with an All-State Honorable Mention. Baseball had a very good season as they advanced to the Regional Tourney, with Jayce Moore earning an All-State Honorable mention award. Softball had a great year, winning the District Tournament, 2ndplace in the Regional Tournament, and earning a spot in the State Tournament. Erin McMaster earned an All-State award. The Girls Track team had a great season, and Layla Cantwell qualified for the State Track Meet. The Boys Track Team defended its District Track title and repeated as District Champions.
There are a lot of good things happening at Spring Hill High School Athletics, Coach Smith and every coach I have spoken with are all very excited about the upcoming season. To all the Senior athletes graduating, congratulations on a great season, and you will definitely be missed by your coaches and teammates. Â
