The Spring Hill School District has hired a new head coach for the 2020-2021 school year. Isaac Whitley is now the head baseball coach for the boys, grades 7-12. Along with his coaching gig, he will be teaching social studies for grades 7-8.

He has been on campus this summer shadowing Coach Greg Smith and is very grateful for the opportunity to work with such a fine coaching staff. "Coach Smith, he has been my coaching mentor this year. He has been great to work with, he's got a lot of valuable experience and I can't wait to work with him and the rest of the coaching staff at Spring Hill," Whitley said about working along side Smith.

Whitley was raised in the Malvern area and attended school at Magnet Cove; after getting his high school diploma there, he continued his education at Henderson State University, where he graduated with a bachelors in social science education and received his coaching endorsement.

Whitley grew up enjoying just about every sport there was to play. From peewee to little league and on through high school he was involved with football, basketball and baseball. When asked if baseball was his favorite sport he had this to say, "As far as baseball being my favorite sport, honestly I just love all sports. Whatever sport is being played at the time, that's my favorite sport, so I could be coaching water polo and that would be my favorite sport at the time."

This will be his first coaching job so he is a tad nervous but also very eager and glad it is at Spring Hill. "I do like to get settled into one place typically and then stick it out there and so I am very excited about Spring Hill because it looks like a place where I can see myself coaching for quite a few years. I'm just very excited about this opportunity. With any first time job, you want to have a strong support system behind you, and that is obviously at Spring Hill. I'm very lucky to have landed in a good situation like this and can't wait to get started," Whitley said about his new position.
