Spring Hill Track Competes in Gurdon

Gurdon- The Spring Hill Track Teams traveled to Gurdon to compete in the Georgia Pacific Relays Thursday. A very good showing from the Bears and Lady Bears in the meet. Coach Smith is very excited to have track in full swing and was impressed with how Spring Hill competed. The Spring Hill Boys Track team finished in 4thplace out of 15 schools.  Griffen Chandler won the Boys 3200M.

The Lady Bears had some very good showings Thursday as Kiera Cantwell placed 8th in high jump earning points for her team. Cantwell also finished 6th in 100M Hurdles and 7th place in 300M Hurdles. Makenzie Thompson placed 4th in the 400M. Ellery Ward finished 12th in the 800M, Chandler Addison and Keira Cantwell finished 17th and 20th in the 200M. Addison also finished in top 20 in the 100M. A very good showing for the Lady Bears Track team.

The Boys Track team finished the meet with 48 team points, earning them 4th place in the meet. In the field events Tucker Runion and Terry Tipton finished in 6th and 7th place in the Discus, both earning points for Spring Hill. Warren McCall placed 3rd in the Shot Put and Tipton finished in 5th. Tipton finished 10th in Triple Jump and Adrian West claimed 17th. Cooper Plyler finished in 10th place in High Jump. Alex Arriaga and Griffen Chandler both competed in the Long Jump. 

In the Relays Spring Hill earned points and placed: 6th in 4x800 (Grant Hudman, Jacob Perry, Cooper Plyler, Adrian West), 8th in 4x400 (Tucker Runion, Alex Arriaga, Jacob Perry, Grand Hudman).

In the running events Alex Arriaga placed 5th in the 800M, and Griffen Chandler placed 13th. In the 1600M the Bears had a great showing as Griffen Chandler placed 4th and Andrew Wylie finished in 5th place, both earning points for the Bears. Griffen Chandler Won the 3200 and Andrew Wylie placed 3rd. Jacob Perry and Tucker Runion both competed in the 400M and improved on their previous times, both placed top 19 in the event. 

Overall a very successful outing for the Spring Hill Track team as they gear up for the district meet in Acorn on April 26th.
