The postcard received by many Hope residents in the mail this week explaining the National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
If you recently got a shopping bag in your mailbox, you should also have gotten a postcard telling you what it is for.
The 23rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is an effort of the National Association of Letter Carriers to make a dent in hunger on the local level. The carriers pick up bags and containers of donated food from residences and businesses and distribute them to local food pantries.
A postcard circulated this week asked that donations be non-perishable and healthy. Bags of food should be placed next to mailboxes to be picked up Saturday May 12th.
