ROSE BUD, ARKANSAS – May 14, 2024 Ballot question committee called ForARKids “opened” its e-commerce store at https://tammyssimpledesigns.com/collections/for-ar-kids. The products include t-shirts, rally signs, yard signs and a sign bundle that can include a banner.
Steve Grappe, ForARKids’ lead organizer, said “For any campaign or effort to be successful having fun, unifying merchandise is often a key component. Our e-commerce site allows folks that are with us but unable to canvass and collect signatures to show their support in their friend and family circles and networks when they are out and about in the community.”
The Arkansas Education Rights Amendment is a statewide effort. The Arkansas State Legislature set the signature collection for each county at 10% of the voter turnout of the last election for Governor. The signatures needed for some southwest Arkansas counties are:
Miller County 1,127 signatures
Hempstead County 469 signatures
Nevada County 247 signatures
Lafayette County 199 signatures
If passed, the Amendment will provide free, voluntary access to high-quality pre-K programs, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to start their educational journey on the right foot. The Amendment also establishes minimum academic standards to ensure that every elementary or secondary school that receives any State or local funds meet the identical Academic Standards and the identical Standards for Accreditation set forth by the General Assembly.
