Friday, July 5, 2024 is the deadline to file statewide initiative measures with the Secretary of State to place the measure on the ballot for the November 2024 General Election.
The citizens' right to petition its government is one of the Five Freedoms in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution making it a cornerstone of our country and our civic infrastructure. Arkansas is unique. It is one of 15 states where citizens can propose constitutional amendments, state laws and veto referendums.
“I am so proud of my fellow Arkansans for being open to democracy,” commented Steve Grappe, lead organizer. “"Regnat Populus" is our state’s motto, which translates to "the people rule" in Latin. Our neighbors are leveling up their civic engagement and civic savviness to give themselves options on the November 2024 General Election ballot.”
If passed, the Arkansas Education Rights Amendment will provide free, voluntary access to high-quality pre-K programs, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the opportunity to start their educational journey on the right foot.
