FAYETTEVILLE - According to a document revealed by an Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Freedom of Information Act request, Courtney Steinbock resigned May 14 as the University of Arkansas’ women’s head tennis coach.

Steinbock’s resignation is reported to stem from an alleged public intoxication incident on May 5 which prompted her arrest by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

Steinbock was reported to have awakened a resident after midnight  because  her vehicle got stuck in ditch  off Madison County Road 5430 east of Elkins.

Steinbock was reported to have registered a 0.19 alcohol upon her arrest.

Steinbock’s Razorbacks had qualified May 5 for the NCAA Tournament.

Assistant coach Ruth Seaborne coached the Razorbacks in their May 7 NCAA Tournament loss to Old Dominion and currently serves as interim coach.

Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek hired Steinbock in  June of 2018.

From 2015 to 2018 Steinbock was the University of Houston women’s head tennis coach during Yurachek’s 2015-2017 as Houston’s athletic director.
