(LITTLE ROCK, ARK.) -- Arkansas Secretary of State John Thurston welcomes you to enjoy the tradition of the Arkansas State Capitol Christmas Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 2nd, at 5:30 p.m.
Fox 16 News anchor Kevin Kelly will emcee the 85th anniversary of this event. Rodrick Rogers of Surrender Church in North Little Rock will give the invocation. There will be musical performances by the Arkansas High Wind Ensemble, Sounds of Victory, Rodney Cummings, and members of the St. Mark’s Baptist Choir. Other special guests include the Catholic High Jr. ROTC, Santa Claus, and more.
Following the ceremony and fireworks show, the public is invited inside the Capitol to view the Christmas decorations, visit Santa in his workshop, check out the first floor exhibit gallery on the history of Santa Claus, watch wood carving by Charlie Huie, and shop in the Capitol Gift Shop. The 2023 Capitol Christmas Ornament will be available for purchase.
The Arkansas State Capitol Christmas Lighting Ceremony is a free, family-friendly event that is open to the public.
Capitol Holiday Hours
Beginning Saturday, December 2nd, the State Capitol will be open for extended hours throughout the holiday season. The State Capitol will be open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. On weekends, the Capitol will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. This will remain in effect until January 2nd, when regular operating hours will resume. The Capitol will be closed Thanksgiving Day (November 23rd) and Christmas Day (December 25th).
