The Razorback Recruiting Roundup: Key Additions Across Four Programs

By Otis Kirk

FAYETTEVILLE -- Wednesday was a good day recruiting wise for multiple sports at the University of Arkansas.

Football, men's basketball, baseball and softball all had very key additions to the commitment classes.

Football Gets its QB

Arkansas hosted Auburn (Ala.) 3-star quarterback Cason Myers, 6-3, 205, for an official visit May 29-31. He was at Boston College this past weekend causing Arkansas a little bit of concern since his father has strong ties Bill O'Brien. But it was the Hogs that won out for Myers on Wednesday. He took to Instagram and X to announce his decision.

“Blessed and excited to announce that I have committed to @RazorbackFB. Grateful for everyone who has helped me get to this point and excited to get to work!”

Myers is the 16th commitment for Arkansas, but the first quarterback. They had seen Will Wood go to Penn State, Colton Nussmeier to Georgia and Brodie Campbell opted for Georgia Tech. Myers was the only one of the four who took an official visit to Arkansas.

In 2025 after transferring to Auburn High School from Pike Road (Ala.) Myers was outstanding. He completed 202 of 285 passes for 2,490 yards, 19 touchdowns and six interceptions. Myers also rushed 104 times for 594 yards and seven touchdowns. He was a two-year starter at Pike Road though his sophomore season was cut short due to a shoulder injury. As a freshman starter, Myers helped the team to the semifinals of the 6A state playoffs going 11-3. Myers completed 199 of 301 passes for 2,389 yards, 17 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Cal Adds Another 5-star

Branson (Mo.) Link Academy Class of 2027 5-star guard Davion Thompson, 6-2, chose the Razorbacks over Michigan, Vanderbilt and Baylor. John Calipari landed the commitment with Thompson going public with his decision while the Arkansas head coach was at the New York Knicks-San Antonio Spurs game.

“The culture Coach Cal has sustained and how many pros that have been coached by Coach Cal and still being able to win at a high level,” Thompson told Hogville's Kevin McPherson.

Playing in the first three sessions of the Nike EYBL grassroots circuit in May, Thompson averaged 21.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting nearly 52% on 7.7 attempts per game from 3.

While he did pledge to Arkansas, Thompson gave no indication if he would reclassify to 2026.

Corner Infielder

Dave Van Horn again went to the transfer portal to get Charlotte corner infielder Dawson Pryce, 6-3, 200. Pryce was named the American Conference Preseason Player of the Year. However injuries limited him to 30 games hitting .306 with three home runs, 25 RBIs and five steals for the season.

He led the 2025 version of the 49ers in batting average (.340), home runs (14), RBIs (53), hits (80), doubles (17) and slugging percentage (.600). During that 2025 season, Pryce was 5 of 14 when Charlotte played three games at Arkansas.

Softball Gets Dandy

Arkansas announced Wednesday that former Notre Dame infielder Ava Zachary had signed with the program.

Zachary was named a D1 Softball Freshman All-American and a second-team All-ACC selection after hitting a team-leading .406, a program-best 31 RBIs and stealing 10 bases during the 2026 season.

Zachary started 43 of Notre Dame’s 51 games this season while playing second and third base.
