  • The Hope Lions Club held their annual fish fry tonight at the Watermelon Festival inside the community center. The Lions Club fish fry is a tradition as long as the festival with the menu consisting of fish or chicken with fries, coleslaw, hushpuppies, pickles, onions and tea. A huge crowd gathered to grab a to go box or sit down at one of the many tables to visit while they chowed down on the tasty meal.

Lions Club Treasurer, Debbie Marsh said, "Our goal is to give back to the community. We use a lot of this money for scholarships, helping people that have cancer, youth activities, eyeglasses and we fund some of the boys and girls state delegates. It's just fun to be a part of this and get to see the community come together at our annual festival fish fry. This is one of the biggest fundraisers we have."

Lions Club members could be seen serving plates or tea to patrons or just out visiting making sure everyone had what they needed. This year, like every other the annual Lions Club fish fish fry is a huge success.
