At approximately 6:10 pm this evening, Hope/Hempstead County Central dispatch received a call in reference to an accident at the intersection of South Elm & West Third Street. Upon Patrolman Jacob Haynie’s arrival, he observed that two vehicles had collided.

Early reports indicate that a 2009 Nissan Altima was traveling West bound behind a 2006 GMC Envoy. While the Envoy was stopped at the red light, the driver of the Altima advised she attempted to stop, but her brakes failed thus causing her to crash into the back of GMC Envoy. The Envoy sustained minor visible damages. The Altima sustained major damages to the front end of the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
