The holidays are here, and that means spending quality time with friends and family — and lots of tasty food. Here’s a reminder, making small changes to your holiday meals, you can serve food that’s delicious and heart healthy, too.

5 Ways to Create Heart-Healthy Holiday Meals

  1. Reduce the sugar in your recipes by 25%. You’ll barely notice the difference.

  2. Cut down on sodium by up to 40% by draining and rinsing your canned vegetables.

  3. Increase fiber by putting whole grains, fruits and veggies on your menu.

  4. Replace butter with canola oil or olive oil for a heart-healthy alternative.

  5. Moderation matters. Limit alcohol consumption to 1 – 2 drinks per day.
