Thunderstorm Can't Stop Emmet Farmers Market Opening
Thursday May 23 opened the 2nd Emmet Farmers Market with showers that quickly turned into a thunderstorm, but that didn’t stop the farmers and volunteers at Emmet. Market Manager, Dave Anderson and EVA volunteers JoAnn Muldrew, Dee Clark, and Deb Jackson sprung into actin helping the farmers move their tables and produce to the center of the pavilion to stay dry. Deanna Allen, Park Committee Chairperson, said “Even with the bad weather, we were still blessed with customers before and after the storm rolled through Emmet. “. The Emmet Park Committee would like to thank, Southern Pines Nursing and Rehab for sponsoring our hospitality table. They would also like to say congratulations to Lisa Barham for winning the door prize drawing this week, accepting for Lisa is Mrs. Kirkpatrick.Allen said, “The weekly door prize is made up of the generous donations from each farmer. This market’s success is due in part to our farmers that we are so blessed to have.” We would also like to remind everyone the Emmet Farmers Market is the only local market approved to accept SNAP/EBT.
