FAYETTEVILLE -BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Arkansas miler Amon Kemboi and weight thrower Ruben Banks from the Razorbacks men’s Indoor Track and Field team and Arkansas 3,000-meter runner Lauren Gregory of the Razorbacks women’s Indoor Track and Field team were honored Tuesday among the SEC Athletes of the Week Tuesday by the SEC Office in Birmingham, Ala.
Kemboi, clocking a nationally leading 3:58.26 winning the mile at last Saturday’s Woo Pig Classic at Arkansas’ Randal Tyson Indoor Track, was named SEC Men’s Co-Runner of the Week along with Georgia’s Matthew Boling.
Banks was named SEC Men’s Co-Freshman of the Week breaking the Razorbacks record with a 71-4 1-4 throw in the 35-pound weight throw. Banks bested the previous best Razorbacks mark 69-6 set in 2019 by Erich Sullins. Banks shared SEC Co-/Freshman of the Week with Marcus Clemons of Florida.
Gregory ran the nation’s leading collegiate 3,000 time 9:01.44 winning at Woo Pig and shares SEC Co-Runner of the Week with Athu Ming of Texas A&M.
Coach Chris Bucknam’s nationally No.1 Razorbacks men and Coach Lance Harter’s No. 1 Razorbacks women host the Razorback Invitational Friday and Saturday with Georgia,  Ole Miss and Mississippi State of the SEC, Colorado, Oregon, Southern California, and Stanford of the Pac 12, and Iowa State of the Big 12 set to compete.
