Update: As of 10:11 a.m. the trains has now been cleared from the tracks.

Because of the derailment of one car there is a train blocking crossings from South Pine west to South Walker. The last of the train cars is blocking Hope's East Third Street/Highway 67 between the new Pizza Hut and J.B. Cook's Auto Parts. Meanwhile Highway 29 is blocked at the Hazel Street crossing. At present, workers are still waiting for the heavy machinery to remedy the problem.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

City Street Superintendent Kenneth Harvel, City Manager Catherine Cook and an ARDOT representative are on scene. Street Superintendent Harvel revised an earlier estimate of an hour until the crossings are clear and now says he expects the derailment won't be dealt with until 3 a.m.
