Troop 5 Camps At Donald Sitzes' Farm

Troop 5 camped at Dr. Donald Sitzes' farm near Tollette September 11-13. There was lots of fishing, cooking and eating going on the 25 acre lake. Fishing Merit Badge participants were required to catch fish, clean fish, cook and eat them.

Dr. Sitzes taught the class how to properly fillet their fish.  A great time was had by all, the weather was very nice and several guests visited during the weekend. Senior Patrol Leader Hunter Mathis and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader Emma Wright led the Scouts in the activities. Assistant Scoutmaster Donnie Golden brought his smoker trailer and cooked ribs, pork loins, chicken, baked beans and brisket. Ronnie Smith and the Fishing Merit Badge class cooked fried bass, crappie and catfish. Also French fries, scratch hushpuppies, corn fritters, okra and onion rings. Desserts included banana pudding, and peach, apple and strawberry cobblers. Scouts cooked breakfast burritos, pancakes and bacon for breakfast.
