Troop 5 Excels as Dakota and Makenzi Earn Order of the Arrow Honors
Congratulations to Dakota Greer for completing her Order of the Arrow Ordeal and to Makenzi Golden for advancing to Brotherhood status during testing this weekend at Camp Preston Hunt. First Vice Chief Emma Wright provided excellent leadership for the event. Cody O'Brien, a Brotherhood member, participated in the Brotherhood Ceremony, wearing his Indian outfit.

Of the 10 Ordeal candidates, Dakota was the only female, and of the 6 Brotherhood candidates, Makenzi was the only female. I am so proud of them both. Cody has stepped up his Scouting involvement with increased troop leadership and now his participation in the Order of the Arrow.

Emma continues to be an inspiration to all Scouts. She is the first female youth Vigil member in the 80-year history of the Akela Wahinapay Lodge and the first female acting Chief of the Lodge.

We have an outstanding group of Scouts, and they are recognized as such in the Council.

Special thanks to Betty Wright for the pictures. Betty and I attended, along with Drake Hargis, who served as a Lodge Advisor, and Dr. Lester Sitzes. Troop 5 was very well represented.

The Order of the Arrow is the Scouting fraternity of Cheerful Service to others, an honor earned by Scouts through recognition from their peers.
