Two myths about the flu - and the truth you should know

True or false? Fall is in full swing, and so is misleading information around the flu. It’s true! Don’t fall for these rumors:

Getting the flu shot can give you the flu.

False. The flu shot is made from an inactive virus, so it can’t infect you. But your immune system may respond with side effects like aches, fever and nausea.

If you feel fine, you can't spread the flu.

False. 20% to 30% of people carrying the flu have no symptoms. If you’re diagnosed with the flu, stay home and away from others to avoid spreading the infection.
