Two Razorbacks Advance to Match Play at U.S. Amateur

BANDON, Ore. – Arkansas juniors Julian Perico and Segundo Oliva Pinto are each advancing to match play after finishing among the top 64 after two rounds of stroke play at the 2020 USGA U.S. Amateur Championship at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. TV coverage for the Round of 64 matches will be on Peacock Network (free streaming service) from 5-6 pm (CT) and on the Golf Channel from 6-8 pm (CT).

Perico had rounds of 67-71 for a 36-hole total of 138 (-5) while Oliva Pinto recorded rounds of 68-75 for a two-day score of 143 (E). NOTE: Final stroke play standings and match play pairing to be determined later Tuesday (Aug. 11) and available on the USGA website.

Perico turned in a 1-under-par 71 Tuesday at the Bandon Dunes Course (7,218 yards/Par 72). He carded five birdies on the day, including holes 6, 8, 9 and 13 to get to 3-under for the round. He suffered a double bogey on the par-3, 15th, but bounced back with a birdie on 16. The Lima, Peru, native finished with a par and a bogey for his 71.

Oliva Pinto, also playing the Bandon Dunes Course, posted a 3-over-par 75. He had a pair of double bogeys, but carded three birdies, including one on hole 15, before running off three pars to end his day.

Also playing the 120th U.S. Amateur were Razorbacks William Buhl and Mason Overstreet. Buhl, playing in his second straight U.S. Amateur, finished at +8 (75-76=151). Overstreet, who advanced to the Round of 16 in 2018 at the U.S. Amateur, was +12 in stroke play (81-74=155).
