FAYETTEVILLE - Seen on an Arkansas Razorbacks football workout video, wide receiver Tyson Morris appears to be the latest senior returned Coach Sam Pittman’s Razorbacks.
Because the covid-19 virus interrupted and for some schools entirely cancelled fall semester sports, the NCAA allows 2020 fall semester seniors the option of returning with 2021 senior sports eligibility.
A Helena native and son of Nolan Richardson era former Razorbacks basketball center Butch Morris and an eventual Fayetteville High graduate, Tyson Morris originally was a walk-on transfer via redshirting at Central Oklahoma University and in 2017 redshirted upon joining Bret Bielema’s Razorbacks.
Under Chad Morris in 2018 and 2019, earned his scholarship lettering both seasons as a receiver and on special teams and doing so again for Pittman in 2020.
Morris in 2020 played every game for the 3-7 Razorbacks catching 7 passes for 67 yards and a touchdown. For his career Morris has caught 24 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns.
Morris adds to a 2021 class of returning 2020 seniors on offense including starting tight end Blake Kern, starting left tackle Myron Cunningham, starting guard/backup center Ty Clary, running back T.J. Hammonds and receiver/kick returner De’Vion Warren.
On defense, 2020 seniors All-SEC middle linebacker Grant Morgan, defensive end Dorian Gerald and linebacker Deon Edwards return as 2021 seniors.
Edwards had submitted his name to the transfer portal but reconsidered and works out with the Razorbacks.
