PRESS RELEASE

HOPE/TEXARKANA, AR – August 3, 2023

Faculty and staff from the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana completed yearly training on Transfr VR virtual reality headsets today. Transfr creates classroom-to-career pathways, training the next generation of workers for well-paying jobs across every industry via hands-on, simulated training that teaches critical skills for in-demand jobs.

UAHT faculty utilize the hands-on simulation training to provide an immersive learning environment that gives trainees real-world experience in the skills they need. UAHT recruiters also use the technology to allow future students to explore various career options.

Virtual Reality (VR) training offers numerous benefits for technical jobs across various industries. Here are some of the key advantages:

1. Realistic Simulations: VR training provides a highly immersive and realistic learning environment. Trainees can practice tasks and operations in a lifelike setting, replicating real-world scenarios they may encounter on the job. This allows for hands-on learning without the risk of real-world consequences.

2. Safety and Risk Reduction: In technical jobs that involve potentially hazardous tasks, VR training can significantly reduce risks to trainees and equipment. For example, in industries like construction, manufacturing, or medicine, trainees can practice procedures and protocols safely in a virtual environment before executing them in the real world.

3. Skill Acquisition and Retention: Studies have shown that VR training can improve skill acquisition and retention compared to traditional training methods. The immersive nature of VR makes the learning experience more engaging and memorable.

4. Customization and Adaptability: VR training programs can be tailored to suit individual trainees' needs and the specific requirements of a job role. Instructors can adapt the content to reflect the latest technologies and best practices in various industries.

5. Soft Skills Development: VR training can also be used to enhance soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and decision-making. In technical jobs that involve teamwork or interactions with clients, these skills are vital for success.

6. Real-time Feedback: VR training often includes instant feedback mechanisms, providing trainees with immediate information on their performance. This allows trainees to correct errors and improve their skills more effectively.

Overall, VR training for technical jobs offers a powerful tool for enhancing learning outcomes, increasing safety, and improving overall job performance for individuals across various industries. As VR technology continues to advance, its potential for training and education is likely to expand even further. UAHT will continue striving to make advanced training resources such as VR available to our students.
