The 30th annual fish fry get-together on the campus of UAHT just east of Hempstead Hall took place this afternoon. Fish and/or chicken dinners were being served.
The famous Kids Corner was fully staffed. Kids could get their faces illustrated, play Jenga or Connect Four.
The stage was occupied with live music from Wyatt Putman singing and playing country rock on his acoustic guitar.
The Lions Club, assisted by Evening Lions members, UAHT Iron Horses and students in Garrett Memorial Christian School's Leo Club, helped cook, package and serve delicious deep-fried catfish or Tyson Chicken Fingers.
Lions President Charles Looney was gratified by the turnout, calling the fish fry today a "Really good event, real meaningful. It's a pleasure to work for the community like this. We've got a great, great club. We're close to
17 or 18 cases of fish and several pounds of chicken that was donated from Tyson, so it's been a good event with
beautiful weather. We haven't had a day like this has been in a long time."
