The UAMS Department of Preventive Family Medicine celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting on Thursday. The Nevada County Chamber of Commerce brought out the big scissors to the event as everyone gathered round to finally make the new business official.

The department operates to help members of the community with their health needs, including assisting with sexual, drug or domestic abuse. They want to inform the youth of the dangers of using drugs by showing them through beer or marijuana goggles what it is like to be under the influence and be in a vehicle. Many of the citizens present tried out the goggles and then went on to try and walk a ruled line that was on the floor, to no avail.

Aside from offering medical services through telemed via ipads, they also offer clothes, operate a food bank and overall stretching out their hand to help anyone in need.

The UAMS Department of Preventive Family Medicine is such a great addition to Prescott and Nevada county and they will truly benefit the community. They are located at 117 E Main St in Prescott, next to the Chamber of Commerce.
