United Ag and Turf hosts Chamber of Commerce Coffee on its Customer Appreciation Day
Wednesday’s Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce coffee took place at the Hope location of United Ag and Turf, a store that has been operating since the 1970s just north of town on US 278 and is one of three stores in south Arkansas.

The store’s staff and Sheba’s catering laid out a table with fruit and vegetable platters, chips and spinach dip, Sheba’s banana-vanilla pudding, rice crispy treats, popcorn and, toward lunchtime, grilled hot dogs. Tea, coffee and bottled water were also available. The hot dogs are being grilled as part of the store’s Customer Appreciation Day celebration.

Receptionist Cassie Baxter said, “The biggest thing that we offer is John Deere merchandise and tractors. We have a couple of different locations local to here. Some of our closest locations are Magnolia, Texarkana and DeQueen. Texarkana--they retail the large equipment, combines, things we don’t have room for.”

Continuing, Baxter described the store’s clientele and how the store caters to them. “Most of our customers are going to be in your hay bale industry, in your cattle industry, and we've had a few chicken farmers. Yes, we also retail Stihl equipment such as your backpack blowers, weed eaters, things like that.”

Baxter, a ten-year veteran of bank work, said she has enjoyed her past year at United Ag and Turf. “I left to come here, because I needed something less stressful and this is the best environment to work in, hands down. I mean, there are only two females at work here, myself and Miss Vicky. And then we have our big ol’ gang of guys, and they're awesome to work with,” she said.
