Volley Saints Claim State Runner-Up Thursday Night
Del City, OK- The Volley Saints ended their amazing season this past Thursday night in Del City, Oklahoma as they claimed State Runner-Up. GMCS went 3-0 in their pool play games and won their first two bracket play games to set up the Championship game with Owasso Prep. The match would go the distance as GMCS would fall just short of a state title. Coach Rook was very happy with the effort and play of the Lady Saints Thursday. Seniors Mikayla Fields and Charity Zumwalt each received All-State Honors and will play in the All-Star match this coming Thursday in Ft. Smith. Silbi Jones was named All-Conference as well. Below are the game by game stats and results:

Pool Play

GMCS beat Cookson Hills in straight sets 25-15, 25-13. Mikayla Fields had 6 kills and an ace, Evan Chambless had 4 kills and 2 aces, and Gracy Martin had 4 aces. The Lady Saints then took on Family of Faith and beat them in straight sets 25-17, 25-19 as Mikayla Fields had 7 kills and 3 aces to lead the Volley Saints. Baylee Pogue had 6 aces and Gracy Martin played another great game with 2 kills and 3 aces. GMCS finished pool play with a victory over Owasso Prep winning the first set 25-18, dropping the second set 25-16, and winning the final set 15-13. Baylee Pogue had 5 aces and 2 kills, Gracy Martin had 4 aces and 2 kills, Charity Zumwalt had 3 aces, Mikayla Fields had 2 kills and 2 aces, and Kynlee Glass had 2 aces and a kill. 

Bracket Play

In the first round of Bracket play, GMCS would win in straight sets over CMA 25-17 and 25-18. Silbi Jones had 6 aces for GMCS, Evan Chambless had 3 aces and 3 kills, Gracy Martin had 4 aces and 2 kills, and Baylee Pogue had 2 aces and 3 kills. 

In the semis, the Volley Saints took care of business with a win over The Cross. They won in 3 sets, 25-12, 16-25, and 15-9 to advance to the semi-finals. Mikayla Fields had 10 aces and 3 kills to lead GMCS. Silbi Jones had 4 aces and 2 kills and Baylee Pogue had 3 aces and 2 kills. 

In the Championship Game, GMCS would fight extremely hard, but would fall in the final set to Oswasso Prep 15-4 after losing the opening set 25-17, but winning the second set 25-19. Mikayla Fields would had 4 kills and 2 aces, while Evan Chambless would have 2 aces and 2 kills.
