Wednesday, June 24, 2026 – Hope, Arkansas – The City of Hope Animal Shelter and Hope for Paws are excited to present the Watermelon Dog Show during the 50th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival – Golden Jubilee Celebration. The event will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. on the Hope Public Schools , with registration beginning at 6:30 p.m.

This free event invites dog lovers and their furry companions to take part in an evening of tail-wagging fun and friendly competition. While there is no entry fee, donations of dog food to benefit the City of Hope Animal Shelter and local rescue efforts are encouraged and appreciated.

Categories include:

• Best Costume

• Best Trick

• Best Looking Adult

• Best Looking Puppy

• Best Overall

Winners in each category will receive ribbons and certificates.

“The Watermelon Dog Show has become a favorite festival tradition for pet lovers of all ages,” said Christy Burns, Executive Director of the Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce. “We invite everyone to bring their four-legged friends and enjoy a fun evening while supporting local animal rescue efforts.”
